KARACHI: National selectors have picked three more cricketers for a training camp of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Future Training Programme (FTP).

Chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed alias Sallu told this correspondent on Sunday that three young players from Karachi, Hyderabad and Lahore have been asked to join the training camp under progress in Lahore.

Atif Maqbool, a leg-spinner from Karachi, Sharjeel Khan of Hyderabad and Lahore’s young opening batsman Fahadul Haq are the three players invited for the camp.

Earlier, the national selection committee had picked 27 players for the FTP training camp.

The players include several Test discards like opening Imran Farhat, Taufeeq Umar and Hassan Raza.

Some of the players are yet to attend the camp as they are currently playing league cricket in England.

The purpose of the camp is to train the country’s second-string players for future Pakistan and Pakistan ‘A’ assignments. The training camp got underway on June 4 and would conclude on August 31.
