Islamabad blast adds to PCB concerns

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

The bomb explosion outside the Danish embassy in Islamabad on Monday has further increased the concerns of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as two major teams of the cricket world are already reluctant to tour Pakistan due to security fears.

The latest blast incident occurred at such a time when the ICC is monitoring security situation in connection with the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan during September this year.

Despite the ICC security delegation’s visit to Pakistan, the teams from Australia, England and New Zealand do not seem to be ready to come to Pakistan.

Immediately after the explosion, an emergency meeting of the PCB authorities to discuss the future strategy was held at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Event director of the ICC Champions Trophy, Ahmed Farooq also attended the PCB meeting.
